Great Wall trek for Uni staff
Two intrepid staff from the University of Wolverhampton are gearing up to trek along the Great Wall of China for charity.
Dr Petula Nurse and Annette Fitzpatrick, both from the
School of Applied Sciences
, are preparing for the demanding challenge which takes place in October.
They will be raising funds for local charity Compton Hospice by trekking the 80 miles of the historic Great Wall of China over seven days.
Dr Nurse, Head of
Biomedical Science
department, said: “Cancer touches the life of many people and the money raised will be used to provide the care to terminally ill people and their families in the Black Country, South Staffs and East Shropshire.
“School children in Wolverhampton will help me to raise funds for Compton Hospice by having a Mufti day on Friday 3 October 2008 and make a donation. The teachers and support staff will wear the school uniform - and the tie!”
School Manager, Mrs Fitzpatrick, added: “I have very personal reasons for wanting to support the wonderful work that Compton Hospice provides to families like mine. It is invaluable, priceless and without doubt needed. This is my way of saying thank you.”
The pair set off on their challenge on Friday, October 24 2008. People can sponsor Dr Nurse by visiting
