Focus on student volunteering
The benefits of student volunteering will be the focus of a special event at the University of Wolverhampton.
The University is to host a one-day conference for students, academics, practitioners and representatives of the voluntary sector at Wolverhampton Science Park on Thursday, 11 September 2008.
The event, organised by the University’s Active Volunteers and the Department of Sociology, aims to bring together the different groups to examine the strengths of collaborations between universities and communities and to share research and good practice.
Phil Hope MP, Minister for the Third Sector, will provide the keynote speech at the event, titled ‘Student Volunteering in Higher Education: Transitions and Turning Points’.
Conference Organisers, Pat Green and Pauline Anderson, said: “The themes of this national conference include the student experience of volunteering, policy agendas and current issues affecting student engagement with the third sector.
“We are delighted to host this event to highlight the importance and benefits of student volunteering in higher education.”
