Top win for budding lawyers

 

The five final year LLB (Hons) students travelled to London to take part in the world’s largest ‘moot’ – a mock court case – with 588 teams taking part worldwide.

 

The School of Legal Studies students were awarded the ‘Spirit of the Jessup‘ prize for displaying an exemplary attitude of sportsmanship and attitude to the event. This was one of just five prizes available and voted for by all the Judges and participants.

 

The mock court case was set in an International Court and incorporated aspects of terrorism, abduction of nationals and their detention in a camp. Fifteen universities from the UK were selected to take part in London.

 

Dean of the School of Legal Studies, Brian Mitchell, said: “Never in my 27 years at the University of Wolverhampton have I felt so proud about an achievement of our students - their team work and enthusiasm is a credit to both themselves and the University.”

 

The students were Clare McCallum, Mehran Kamranfar, Roshida Begum, Daniel Phillips and Laurie Phillips. They were accompanied by lecturers Sheena Parry and Steven Gallagher.
