Free public lecture on MRSA

 

Professor Michael Brown will give the free lecture on Wednesday, 6 February 2008 at 6pm.

 

Michael is Professor of Pharmaceutical Microbiology and his research focuses on the environmental survival of disease causing microbes, including hospital superbugs such as MRSA and Clostridium difficile (also known as C-Diff).

 

Prof. Brown said: “I have been struck by the remarkable similarity of the requirements for survival of all organisms: single cells, plants, animals and humans. The main focus of the lecture will be on mircrobial pathogens such as MRSA, but I will consider how these survival requirements apply equally to complex organisms. The principles that influence the survival of bacteria apply to all organisms, including humans, professions and organisations.”

 

The lecture will take place in the Millennium City Building at the Wolverhampton City Campus. Among those due to attend the lecture are assistant professors from Sogn og Fjordane University College, Norway, who will be visiting the University of Wolverhampton.
