The School of Sport, Performing Arts & Leisure does exactly what it says on the tin!  It offers quality programmes of study in Sport,  Performing Arts and the Leisure and Lifestyle Industries at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Teaching by experts

The School has staff with extensive experience and excellent reputations within their subject areas, together with a strong research presence via its Research Centre for Sport, Exercise and Performance and the Lifestyle Performance Centre.

The School has a long history of involvement with local industry through its links with local companies via the government’s Knowledge Transfer Partnership scheme.  Our Leisure Industries department are at the forefront of this initiative.

The University has become an integral part of the ‘English Institute of Sport’ by hosting a Judo Centre of Excellence in a new state-of-the-art indoor sports centre at Walsall Campus, complemented by new synthetic athletics track and all-weather pitches. Find out more about our world class sports facilities.    

Students have access to modern learning facilities on both Walsall and City Campus, including IT suites and learning centres, featuring the very latest technology to support your learning.  

We have heavily invested in facilities that will nurture talent and produce future stars in the Creative Industries. For Dance, the Walsall campus has two sprung-floor dance studios, whilst our Drama and Dance students have access to rehearsal and workshops rooms, as well as the prestigious Arena Theatre on City Campus, where our students regularly give stunning performances.

2011 saw the opening of our modern performing arts and learning centre, The Performance Hub, which is the new home for all of our performance courses, providing state-of-the-art facilities.

One of our main strengths is our focus on student support. 

During Welcome Week, you are allocated a personal tutor who will help you plan your programme of study, and offer personal and academic advice. 

This supplements the University’s Student Support service at our City Campus, which offers expert advice in specific support areas including finance, careers, disabilities and personal counselling.

Most of our courses are taught on the Walsall Campus which is situated just minutes from Walsall’s bustling town centre.  The campus is easily accessible for England’s second city, Birmingham. 

You will also benefit from a free university bus service between Walsall and City Campus, located in the heart of Wolverhampton city Centre.

Fantastic accommodation

Our Student Village on Walsall Campus, with 340 single-study bedrooms, is one of the UK's most modern student living spaces having only been completed in 2005.  All rooms are fully furnished, with ensuite bathrooms, wireless internet access, modern kitchen/diners and a relaxing social area.  Our accommodation area offers a safe courtyard with 24-hour security, CCTV and free parking.
