A clear career progression route has been established in CeDARE that provides novice researchers and research students with high levels of initial support from a cluster of colleagues, from undertaking internally-based research projects through to initial attempts at acquiring external funds and submitting publications.
As staff develop their research profile and consolidate their areas of interest, they are able to become Research Fellows where they receive enhanced mentoring from senior researchers within CeDARE. Taken together, the enhanced staff development opportunities, changes in working patterns and the provision of a structured career path have had a profound impact on the research culture and the aspirations and achievements of individual staff.
The CeDARE team are currently involved in research and development projects that span all areas of education, as well as supporting the development of research capacity amongst academic staff within the School for Education Futures.

All staff within the School for Education Futures have the opportunity to develop their research interests through mentoring support, research cluster memberships, sabbatical opportunities and support for conference attendance and dissemination activities. Additionally, our annual staff research conference gives them a chance to present their research in a supportive environment. Ongoing study leave and early career researcher programmes provide staff with periods of release from all other duties, along with a programme of mini-sabbaticals that allowing staff at different points in their career to have the opportunity for study leave during which they can develop specific research opportunities.
