Artsfest is coming - 8 June - 30 June 2017

03/05/2017

For the third year running, the University of Wolverhampton is staging its seven week festival across Wolverhampton in celebration of the arts.

Artsfest is a collaborative project led by the University’s Faculty of Arts including The Performance Hub, based in Walsall, and the Arena Theatre.  Students and staff work have collaborated with local venues including the Mander Centre, Newhampton Arts Centre and Bantock House Museum to stage events covering music, dance, theatre, literature, film, art and design.

A variety of events and workshops are on offer including a ‘stomp’ style body percussion workshop, a celebration of classical Indian dance, an exploration of hip-hop heritage and a workshop designed to discover dinosaurs. There will also be a varied mixture of theatre productions, art and photography exhibitions, film screenings and fashion shows.

Dr John Pymm, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, said:  “As Artsfest enters its third year, we have joined with cultural venues to programme an array of events across Performing Arts, Art and Design, Film and Media and Poetry and Literature.

“The University is very proud to stage this celebration of the creative and cultural life in our region, and the huge impact that the arts make in our everyday life.  There’s something for every taste and age, and events to suit every budget – with many free activities on offer – as well as exclusive Artsfest discounts.”

Artsfest will run from 8 June until 30 June 2017. Join the Artsfest conversation online by using #WLVArtsfest.
