How to survive Clearing

It’s results day and, based on your grades, your plans may have changed. It’s time to go through Clearing – but don’t worry, take a deep breath and get ready...

The first-hand account of our third-year student Chloe Homewood gives you a good idea of what to expect from Clearing. Everyone’s experience may be slightly different, so follow our top tips below to make the process as smooth as possible.

First of all:

Don't panic!

Keep a cool head. Clearing proves to be a successful route for students every year, so you have a great chance of successfully enrolling on a course.

Get advice

Before results day, become familiar with the Clearing process so you have an idea of the steps you may have to take.

Your School or College will be able to offer support and advice if you haven’t done as you expected – and remember you can talk directly to us or find lots of useful information on our advice pages.

Be prepared

Before you call us, have questions prepared and your grades handy.

Take a look at all our courses with available places. Be open-minded about the types of courses you could study, just in case your first choice is fully-subscribed.

If you can't get a place on a suitable undergraduate course, consider our other study options such as Foundation or part-time.

Act quickly

Popular courses with spaces will fill up quickly, so don’t delay in calling our Clearing hotline.

Phone us on 01902 51 85 85 to talk to us. If the hotline is busy, keep trying – we have a full team waiting to take your call!

Alternatively, you can get in touch on Twitter and Facebook to get your queries answered and start the application process rolling.

Keep in touch

If we offer you a place, we'll give you a deadline for you to make your final decision and get your application in.

If you have any questions, get in touch – we’re here to help.
