Innovative Product Support Service

Programme Summary

ERDF

The IPSS programme, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) supports businesses through the early stages of developing a new product or process. The programme is specifically designed to support businesses developing:

  • Environmental technologies
  • Low carbon engineering and products
  • Digital technologies
  • Transport technologies
  • Electronics
  • Medical technologies

Businesses will initially receive a 2-day review of their proposed product/technology. The results of the review are used to promote businesses with the most viable propositions through to a second phase of the programme that offers 4-days of funded support.  In some cases, eligible companies will also be able to access a Research Collaboration to assist with further development.

Examples of the funded support available to businesses include:

  • Product design
  • Engineering analysis
  • Market research
  • Intellectual property guidance
  • Electronics development
  • Commercial reviews
  • New product development planning and development
  • Development and implementation of sensor technologies ‌

Case Studies & Testimonials

Here is what a few of our clients have said about how the first IPSS Project has helped them:

'From the first official meeting I had with IPSS, I felt I was doing the right thing, using EU funding to push and get my new, unique and exciting product to market.  The IPSS designer was professional, very open to discussion, explained clearly what they can do to help.  The information later presented on my project was clear and well presented, very impressed with the research done on a couple of issues related to my project, but quickly resolved.  I would certainly recommend IPSS’

James Skelton, Director, Jesent Products

'Input from the IPSS project helped us win a contract worth £0.75m and has opened the door to other possible international orders.  Its been great for us and I'd urge other companies to take advantage of the help that's available'

Trevor Tomalin, Director, Deans Management Services Ltd.

'Thanks to the IPSS team, Cycle Sorted is now well placed to keep innovating and working with other ERDF funded schemes and local businesses.  Keen to keep development in the Midlands, we are looking for manufacturers, particularly those with connections to the bicycle manufacturing heritage around Birmingham and Coventry.  This scheme has allowed me to develop the idea into a business that will certainly bring work to the local economy and hopefully employment opportunities in the near future'

Ben Murphy, Director, Cycle Sorted.
