If you are attending the December graduation ceremony please refer to the 'On the Day' page for this ceremony information.

Where will my graduation ceremony be held?

All ceremonies will be held at the The Wolverhampton Grand Theatre, Lichfield Street, Wolverhampton WV1 1DE.

Where do I collect and return my gown?

Robes are collected and returned to rooms on the 4th floor of the MC building on City Campus, at the following times.

Where do I have my photograph taken?

Graduation photography will take place on the 2nd floor of the MC building, City Campus.

Please note, due to the large number of students graduating there may be queues of up to an hour to have photographs taken in the studios. Take this into consideration and plan your day accordingly.

What if I am late for the ceremony?

The decision to allow latecomers to be presented will be entirely at the discretion of the Student Centre Manager or Deputy Manager, whose decision is final.


If you are accepted as a late arrival, you will be given a card detailing your name and award, which you must keep safe. You will be presented at the end of the students awards and must stay seated in the place that you are directed to by the student centre staff, until you are asked to make your way to the front of the auditorium.

Can I bring children to the ceremony?

Please remember this is an official ceremony being filmed and streamed over the internet and we do not want young children to disturb the enjoyment of others. Children under the age of 8 years will not be allowed to attend the ceremony.

Is it essential to wear a gown at the ceremony?

You will NOT be presented for your award unless you are wearing academic robes. You may order your robes following the link below:

How do graduates receive their transcript?

Your transcripts will be sent out after graduation ceremonies are over, and they will be sent out via the student office.

Guest tickets lost or not received.

Lost guest tickets can be reprinted on the day of the ceremony only.  Please go to the information point at the Grand Theatre or ask a member of foyer staff wearing a blue gown (see registration points opening times and allow time to do this in your schedule) who will be able to arrange this for you.

Where can I order the photograph I had taken when I was presented with my award?

Digital photos that are taken of each finalist as they are presented with their award on stage are available to purchase from the Harrison Learning Centre, MD building.

If you are unable to get the photographs from the MD building you can find more information on the tempest website online.

Forgot to return gown after ceremony.

You will have until 4.30pm on Friday 22nd September to return to the MC 4th floor, if it is kept after that time then student will need to contact Eden Ravenscroft direct regarding their returns policy / additional charges (as the contract is between you and the gowning company not the university). The university WILL NOT return on your behalf.

How long will the graduation ceremony last?

Each ceremony lasts approximately 1 ½ hours.

Is it essential to wear a gown at the ceremony?

You will NOT be presented for your award unless you are wearing academic robes. Your robes can be ordered from Ede & Ravenscroft.

What if I am late for the ceremony?

On arrival at the theatre go to the information point or ask a member of staff wearing a blue gown.You will be presented at the end of the student’s awards and must stay seated in the place that you are directed to by the Student Centre staff, until you are asked to make your way to the front of the auditorium.

If you are unable to attend the actual ceremony, you can still collect your gown and have photos taken.

What if a guest is late for the ceremony?

Guests should arrive in good time. At least 30 minutes before the start of the ceremony with a valid ticket. Guests arriving once the ceremony is underway may NOT be permitted to enter the auditorium until a suitable break in the proceedings. They may also be asked to occupy alternative seats so other guests are not disturbed.

Can I bring children to the ceremony?

Graduation is a ceremonial occasion which young children can find tedious. In the interest of other patrons children under 8 years of age will not be admitted to the theatre auditorium.

Please note that children over 8 years of age will need a guest ticket.

What shall I do if I can no longer attend the ceremony but I still want my certificate.

If you can no longer attend the ceremony but still want the certificate, you will have the option to request your certificate through e:Vision. (you can do this via the graduation page on e:Vision after the ceremonies have taken place).

All certificates for people requesting through e:Vision will then start to be sent out after all the ceremonies have taken place. (Specific time is unavailable due to the volume of requests, however it takes around 3-4 weeks to send out all the certificates).

Is there provision for guests with disabilities?

Yes, students must provide information on their guests needs (e.g. BLS interpreter, wheelchair users) when the guest tickets are purchased. If information has not been provided you must contact the university as soon as possible via e:Vision helpdesk.
