The Institute of Gaming and Animation

The Institute was formed to meet demands from industry to deliver cutting edge technology and design solutions underpinned with expert knowledge and internationally recognised research.

The Institute brings together the University’s expertise in computer games technology, animation, games design and mobile networks.

Through our investment in progressive and innovative equipment and skilled academic staff we provide a rich learning and support environment, developed to promote our student’s capabilities whilst equipping them to meet the requirements of the creative industries.

The Institute of Gaming and Animation is in an excellent position to:

  • Facilitate collaborations in course design and delivery, to promote undergraduate and postgraduate courses with a clear industrial and commercial relevance: students: learn, develop, work
  • Promote an environment in which research and scholarship thrive to produce graduates with the potential to play a significant role in the creative industries.
  • Deliver applied research and knowledge transfer projects such as several completed best practice projects, and providing high-quality professional development opportunities.
  • Work with regional, national and European partners on innovative projects: links with industry and applied research.
  • Deliver bespoke training in a range of cutting edge technology areas: courses in emerging game and virtual world technologies.
