My career to date has been as varied as a week within the School of Computer Science!
My initial foray into industry was as a Software Engineer (for a startup in Cambridge), developing both business process software (in C++) and related user documentation (technical authoring).
After the tech-bubble burst (early-noughties), I found my way into college lecturing, delivering a variety of Computer Science subjects (e-Commerce, HCI, Software Development, Networking) from BND to Degree (Hons) levels.
Returning to industry, I spent 10 years working for BAE Systems. For the bulk of this time, I was seconded to the Royal Saudi Air Force (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) instructing Officers and Cadet Pilots in Computer Science (Hardware/Software). Additionally, my role involved the administration of the CS Department’s network labs, and I was also instrumental in setting up the RSAF’s e-Examinations Department. The latter part of my time with BAE, involved Security Cleared (SC) I.T. work for the Foreign Commonwealth Office.
Finally, prior to joining Wolverhampton, I delivered a six month Cyber Security course (University of Central Lancashire) to visiting officers from the Saudi Military Attaché.
Qualifications include ITIL, Certified ECDL / SMARTBoard Trainer, BSc Hons (Comp. Science), PGCE, MSc (Grid/Cloud Computing), PhD (Serious Games)
Due to my varied background, I have developed skills/knowledge in a variety of areas, including:
