Biology, Chemistry and Forensic Science

I commenced a position as Senior Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry in 2017 at UoW. My main research interests are in the analysis of DNA adducts using hyphenated techniques such as liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS and LC-MS/MS). Previously I was Senior Lecturer at Liverpool John Moores University (2007-2017) where I also taught analytical chemistry alongside my research interests. My academic career began back in 1998 with a PhD at the Open University, completing in 2001. During that time, I investigated photodegradation mechanisms of model pharmaceutical compounds using a range of analytical techniques (HPLC, GC, MS and hyphenated techniques). I then moved into bioanalysis with a research fellow position (2001-2007) investigating the formation of DNA adducts related to diet. Techniques used included immunoassays, atomic force microscopy and LC-MS methods.
