I head our Architectural & Design Department where I also deliver lectures to our first cohorts on the BSc (Hons) in Architecture programmes, in relation to the professional standards, industrial and institutional needs and to both undergraduates and post-graduates students on our CIAT accredited BSc (Hons) Architectural Design Technology, BSc (Hons) Interior Architectural and Property Development programmes, in relation to their discipline specific professional standards, industrial and institutional needs. I am one of the Architects and ‘Design’ specialist lecturers and discipline specific link for the architectural students within the Faculty. Having implemented a previous Architectural Programme and successfully assisted the School through its professional Accreditations, I work to ensure that acceptable standards of competences are maintained.

I have developed and delivered lectures related to construction design and architecture within my previous University. As the ERASMUS exchange lecturer with Technical University, Brno, Czech Republic I mapped the courses for compatibility etc. I have lead and co-ordinated the course team and students through administrative duties as the Undergraduate Co-ordinator responsible for all Full time undergraduate Construction students. This involved internal validation events etc. I continue being a Personal tutor for undergraduates, and have previously been the examination officer for the then Subject Group.

I have represented the School, University and programme internally and externally on academic and profession specific issues. This involved liaising with internal and external bodies including Academic Quality and Standards Unit,  External Examiners, Quality Assurance Agency and professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists and the Chartered Institute of Building and Universities on Periodic Reviews and validations.

I was a member of the inclusive design network at University of Bolton and part of a team developing a research area on the same (Inclusive Design). I have developed research with Bolton Primary Care Trust, which looked at improving the environment for patient care in the Bolton Diabetes centre. I was also a member of the School’s Research Group at Bolton, creating a research culture.

I have interest in the listed research areas, which are mostly related to each other:

  • Managing Institutional Change For The 21st Century: ‘Architectural Technology As A Profession In Society’
  • Inter-Professional Practice
  • Inclusive Design (Cradle to the Cradle)
  • Social Health in Architecture
