About

Following a successful clinical career as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, I moved into Nurse Education in 1991 as a Senior Lecturer after completing BSc (Hons) in Nursing and PGCE. After moving into Higher Education I was awarded an MBA  and  MA in Research Methodology and a DNursSci from Swansea University in 2011. My teaching interests span from mental health nursing, focusing on hope and recovery, critical perspectives in mental health, to research/evidence based practice in nursing  and management. I am committed to empowering mental health students and nurses to take social actions in mental health practice in challenging stigma, discrimination and to improve the quality of care of people with mental health needs. My research interests are Recovery in mental health, acute mental health nursing and schizophrenia.
