About

I have over twenty five years’ experience working within the childcare and education sector as both manager and Higher Level Teaching Assistant. Having decided to use my first degree to go into teaching I completed a PGCE with Wolverhampton University and went to work within a Further Education college as a lecturer. Initially as a lecturer I taught 14 -19 year olds; then at the college’s request I then became an Associate Lecturer with Edge Hill University teaching the Foundation Degree in Early Year’s. Following on from this I took a promotion as the Head of the Care department. On completion of my master’s qualification I took an opportunity to work at Wolverhampton University where I am now currently the course leader for the BA Hons Childhood and Early Years Teacher (EYT) and the Graduate Employment route for EYT. My current research interests are professionalism within the early years and placement experiences putting theory into practice. I have recently presented at the international conference of European Early Childhood Education research Association (EECERA)
