About

John is a Senior Lecturer in Children’s Nursing specialising in education and training related to all aspects of safeguarding children and young people. He is involved in training staff in NHS trusts as well as academic programmes in children’s nursing and healthcare as well as child protection and safeguarding. John has continually been active within the field of safeguarding children and young people and was Chair of the RCN Safeguarding Children and Young People forum for many years and also Vice-Chairperson/Founding member of the National Safeguarding Children Association for Nurses (NSCAN). Through these activities he has been involved in several national projects concerned with safeguarding including the Development of Child protection training for medical staff, External stakeholders group for the implementation of LSCBs, the Common Assessment Framework RIA and Alcohol Concern toolkits for practitioners working with children of alcohol misusing parents.
