About

My current role is Research Administrator in the Faculty of Education, Health and Wellbeing at the University of Wolverhampton.  I have been with the University since September 2008 in various different roles including: Catering Sales Assistant and Employment Officer with the Careers and Employment Services.  As a Research Administrator for FEHW we cover a broad spectrum within our remit including Student Support (Level 8 PhD and Professional Doctorate Students), Academic Support, the servicing of committees (including the Faculty Research Committee and the Faculty Ethics Sub Committee) and Supervisor Management.  Our core activity is to provide a high level of administrative support for new entrants, current students and academic staff in regards to all research related activity and level 8 study.

Previous professional experience

2013 – Present   Employment Officer, University of Wolverhampton

Main Duties:  The day to day management of the student internal recruitment service and giving one to one student guidance and advice on employment and employability.  Sourcing and advertising of part time jobs on internal jobs site.  Developing and maintaining contacts with external companies and internal departments.  Organisation and marketing of recruitment and award events (e.g. National Student Employment Week and Student Employee of the Year Award).  Weekly publications of social media and marketing material.  General office administration as required.

2008 – 2013   Catering Sales Assistant, University of Wolverhampton

Main Duties: Customer service and teamwork to deliver a high standard of service through a daily counter service, which involved cash handling (EPOS), hospitality and conferencing events.  Adhering to strict health and safety legislation and hygiene procedures in the preparation and sales of food. Manual duties, including cleaning and sterilisation of Kitchen, Refectory, Shop and seating areas and Kitchen Porter duties, including washing up.  Other duties include stock replenishment (FIFO), recording and monitoring temperatures of food storage equipment and following cleaning schedules.

2003 – 2007   Sales Assistant, Greggs, Walsall Road, West Bromwich, B71 3HP

Main Duties: Providing a counter service that required a high level of customer service, teamwork and communication skills and sales, including product promotions and ‘upselling’. Shop duties included filling up shelves, recording and monitoring temperatures of food storage equipment, following cleaning schedules and taking telephone orders.
