About

As a qualified nurse most of my clinical experience was spent within the Forensic Psychiatry setting; on both community and in-patient settings. Within this setting I have experience as a Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse and Ward Manager. During this period I also developed links with the local Probation Services and worked as a member of their Offender Programme. As a Forensic CPN I developed the Diversion at the Point of Arrest service within two Police Stations in Wolverhampton and further developed the Court Diversion Scheme.

Throughout my nursing career I have also worked within acute services, community services and addiction services.

My most recent full time clinical post was as a Sector Coordinator for a local Trust. Within this role I had the responsibility for the health and social care services and staff within the largest geographical sector within Wolverhampton.

Whilst I continue to link in with local forensic services working on the “Nurse Bank”, I also have a passion for “Talking Therapies” and their use, implementation and effectiveness. I am a qualified Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and currently I am the module leader for the Psychological Interventions module on the nursing programme, and I provide other sessional input around this talking therapy on other modules.

I have recently been heavily involved as Award Leader with the development and validation of the Master of Mental Health Nursing programme and the consequent development of the Master of Mental Health Practice Team.
