I have had extensive professional experience within nursing with my career spans
39 years. Nursing is my passion, having taken great pride in keeping professional updated with in nursing and more specifically in clinical skills and practice. Within my current portfolio of teaching I am involved mainly with pre-registration nursing.
Prior to joining the university, I worked as a staff nurse, sister and ward manager on surgical wards. I achieved my experience mainly in the Manor Hospital, Walsall. With a keen interest in teaching I gained my Certificate in Education from Keele University, becoming In-Service Sister, joining the Sister Dora College of Nursing and Midwifery in 1992.
I have been a senior Lecturer since 1998 which has involved a multitude of roles from lecturer practitioner, common foundation coordinator, group leader, personal teacher and academic practice lead for the Walsall Heath Care Trust. In the latter I support students and their mentor’s in placement, which includes the planning and allocation of placements, the evaluation of the students experiences whist in practice, delivery of practice mentor updates and delivery of planned support sessions for student nurses, again working closely with colleagues from the academic and Trust practice team
