Enthusiastic comments from new students, parents and visitors from industry tell us that our facilities are equal to any, and second to none. Our aim is to provide our students with the best possible learning environment. Students can also access our extensively stocked psychometric test library and dedicated Psychology testing rooms where they can carry out their own research.
Our dedicated Psychology teaching laboratory has 64 networked computers housed in flip top desks. This teaching laboratory is used primarily for practical classes, but also on many of our modules for small group teaching sessions.
We have the ‘in-house’ capacity to develop and improve study support materials where current external tools aren’t up to the job – if what we need isn’t out there or is just too expensive, we’ll try to produce it ourselves.
All of our students have access to WOLF (our online learning environment) which provides a range of tools and facilities by which tutors can deliver enhanced learning material in support of classroom-based teaching and tutorial contact, and engage students actively in the learning process. As well as allowing tutors to make available any reference material, notes, media and documents related to a subject or module of study, WOLF offers collaborative tools to facilitate discussion among classes and smaller workgroups.
Our social psychology suite has a one-way observation mirror, viewing chamber, remotely-operated discreet video cameras, plasma screens, plus digital sound reproduction and mixing capabilities – we can produce some of the most up-to-date training videos and DVDs currently available. These labs are also used for teaching and demonstration purposes, by staff for research and by many of our undergraduate and postgraduate students for their projects. Our Social Psychology suite was featured on Channel Five’s Gadget Show in 2011.
