Physical Education Booster Course

Dates: TBC

Over six days you will be undertaking a mixture of accredited and Subject Mentor led courses to ensure that you are ready to teach within a secondary school context. These courses are provided to enrich your experience and ensure that you have basic knowledge in sports which require specialist skills. Over the course of the year you will also be able to access accredited courses Tramoplining, Swimming  and OOA, details of these will be discussed during the booster days. 

Course Title Indicative Topics Covered
Dance Enhancement Develop subject knowledge required to plan, teach and assess across the key stages in school.
Gymnastics at Wood Green (Two Day Course) Development of personal Gymnastic skills to aid demonstration and teaching across KS3 and 4, in a school setting.
Elevating Athletics (Accredited) Develop skills and multi-skills. An introduction to FUNdamentals.
Inclusive PE (Accredited) This workshop is designed to help teachers to embed inclusive practice in their planning, delivery and assessment within the curriculum.
Rugby Union in Secondary School (Accredited) Development of skills, techniques, tactics and rules in the game of Rugby.

All sessions have a practical component and you are required to come appropriately equipped for sessions. The sessions will aid in the development op subject knowledge with the focus on experimental learning. During each session you will be able to assess your own and others progress and consider the application of knowledge to performance in the physical education classroom enviroment. 

Am I eligible for this SKE Booster course?

To be eligible trainees must:

  • Not be going onto an undergraduate course.
  • Not already hold qualified teacher status.
  • Have an offer to start teacher training in the next academic year.

Please note you are classed as an internal applicant if you will be undertaking your ITE course (PGCE, School Direct Salaried, School Direct Training) with the University of Wolverhampton or a University of Wolverhampton School Direct partner school.

How to pay

Course fees are payable through the University of Wolverhampton's secure e-store facility which you will be directed to through a conditional offer. Types of payment accepted are Visa, Maestro, JCB, and MasterCard.
