Secondary Mathematics Subject Knowledge Enhancement Courses

We offer intensive subject knowledge enhancement courses for those beginning initial teacher training in Secondary Mathematics. You will cover a range of relevant school based content at key stage 3 and 4.

Courses

Long 28 week - 27 November 2017 to 30 May 2018 Apply Here (28 weeks)

This course is designed to enable applicants who have limited key stage 3 and/or 4 Mathematics curriculum knowledge to gain the subject knowledge they require to train as a secondary Mathematics teacher. 

This starts at 10am in WN110,  Samuel Johnson Building, Walsall Campus.

Short 8 week - Monday 25 June 2018 -  Friday 31 August 2018  Apply Here (8 weeks)

This is a very intensive, 8-week subject knowledge enhancement course for those beginning initial teacher training in Secondary Mathematics. You will cover a range of relevant school based content at key stage 3, 4 and post 16.  

Am I eligible for this SKE course?

To be eligible trainees must:

  • Not be going onto an undergraduate course.
  • Not already hold qualified teacher status.
  • Have agreement from their ITT provider that they should attend.

Funding

An NCTL bursary is payable to participants if eligible. A training bursary of £200 per week is available for eligible course participants. For further information, please visit the Department of Education website. 

Bursary payments are made monthly with the first month in arrears.

Further information

Sessions will take place at the University’s Walsall Campus. Sessions usually run between 9am and 4pm.
