This is a very intensive, 8-week subject knowledge enhancement course for those beginning initial teacher training in Secondary English. You will cover a range of relevant subject knowledge content to prepare you to teach at key stages 3, 4 and 5.
This course combines taught sessions with distance learning across the eight weeks. This allows time for carefully chosen reading in preparation for taught sessions which will cover: a chronology of English literature and language; grammar required to teach the National Curriculum; key authors and movements in English literature; key non-fiction texts; language change and development.
