Illustration graduate's bright future: Sarah Jennings

BA (Hons) Illustration graduate Sarah Jennings has been taken on by The Bright Agency, a creative agency who specialise in illustration for picture books, fiction, novelty and educational and children’s publishing.

Sarah, met the agency whilst exhibiting with the university at the New Designers exhibition in London over the Summer.

She told us: “I contacted The Bright Agency previous to this and met up with them at the exhibition, it was there that we arranged a meeting for me to show them my work.

“The agency helps me to secure illustration commissions and promote my artwork. I'm currently working full-time on commissions for a variety of clients via them.

“Some of the projects I'm currently working on are some educational books for children, for both UK and USA based clients and an early reader book with Orion Children's Books.

“At the moment I'm mainly working on illustrations for children, but Bright are also interested in me creating illustrations for greetings cards and art licensing too.”

Sarah, who was shortlisted for a national illustration student competition called Unleashed-The best in the North’, credits the course and tutors at the university for helping her to achieve this early success.

“I'm thoroughly enjoying working with Bright - illustrating for children is something I have always wanted to do and the illustration course at university gave me the confidence to pursue this as a career.

It helped me to develop my style and explore all aspects of Illustration. All the tutors were really knowledgeable and supportive; this gave me the encouragement to do well. I also gained a good understanding of the illustration industry.”

Congratulations Sarah!
