About Drama

The Drama Department at Wolverhampton is a dynamic, rigorous and exciting place to study. Housed within excellent state of the art facilities at the Performance Hub, the department is based on the vibrant Walsall campus of the university and is easily accessible from the M5 and M6 motorways.

The department also has strong links with the Arena Theatre in Wolverhampton, which is the venue for many of our student productions. Our team of teaching staff consists of academics and practitioners who have developed international reputations in their respective fields of work.

We offer two specialist undergraduate programmes: BA (Hons) Drama and BA (Hons) Musical Theatre.

The BA (Hons) Drama programme offers four specialist areas: Applied Theatre, Physical TheatrePopular Theatre and Text.

The Musical Theatre programme is taught by specialist staff who encourage a critical approach to the study of the genre and have excellent links with the industry.

The department has excellent links with theatre companies and arts agencies in the country and students benefit from receiving input from these professional contacts throughout their studies here. We are privileged and proud to have recently appointed the internationally acclaimed choreographer Jasmin Vardimon as a Visiting Professor in Performance in the Drama department. Links with other practitioners and companies in the region include Black Country Touring, Pentabus Theatre Company, Kindle Theatre Company and others.
