Biographical Summary

Joe is the performing arts technician at the University where he provides technical support to the music, musical theatre, dance and drama departments. He specialises in studio recording, and music/sound for film and video games.

At the age of 18 Joe converted a barn in order to build his own recording studio. Through his friend engineer Mark V Stuart (M2 Studios) he was able to work with artists and musicians such as Magnum, Jimmy Copley (Jeff Beck, Paul Rogers) Harry James (Thunder) and Tyla (Dogs D’Amour).

During Joe’s MSc he conducted research on how a demo recording progresses to the final mix. Using theory informed practice to show links between the testing and evaluating similar medias: video game demos, concept art and software beta testing. Joe plans on beginning a PhD in the immersion of video game sound in the near future.

Joe studied for a BA (Hons) in Music Technology and Popular Music at the University of Wolverhampton where he achieved a First Class degree. He went on to study a Master of Science in Music Technology at the university where he was awarded a distinction.
