We’ve caught up with BA (Hons) Musical Theatre graduate Abbie Rai who has been awarded The Musical Theatre Course Prize for the Highest Musical Theatre Degree Classification!
I studied BA (Hons) Musical Theatre and I graduated September 2016.
I have now started my Postgraduate PGCE for Secondary Education in Drama. I have always had a passion for performing arts and now I want to share that passion to inspire and motivate the younger generation to become more involved within the Arts and experience how diverse and rewarding the industry can be.
Alongside my PGCE, I am also working part time as a singing teacher and musical theatre instructor for Amplify Talent UK and StageWorks Academy; through this I am helping to provide performing arts training for children between the ages of 3-18, learning the disciplines of dance, drama and singing.
The best part of my job is being able to experience the rewarding perks of teaching, as I get to witness the young people develop and grow as they learn and experience new skills and challenges.
I believe the University of Wolverhampton has encouraged me to grow in both my personal and educational journey. Through my course, I was presented with lots of opportunities and support, which really helped me grow in confidence throughout the three years.
The most enjoyable part of studying at the University of Wolverhampton was being able to meet and work with lots of different people. Everyone was so welcoming and I found that I really settled in during my time on the course.
What's next for me? Well I just hope to be successful and happy in whichever way my career path takes me.
