Student concepts for local projects to be showcased

10/05/2013

Since January, the civil engineering students have been working on design projects which create original solutions to local and national infrastructure issues.

The projects include an alternative design for the M54/i54 access junction, road bridge and cutting designs as part of HS2 and structural designs for University of Wolverhampton projects.

Principal Lecturer in Civil Engineering, Peter Mills, said: “The projects were purposely very open ended to enable the students to be creative, this has given the students the freedom to generated their own solutions but has also been challenging for them to ensure that their solutions are practical”.

Each project had to address structural, geotechnical environmental and commercial management aspects.

Over 100 guests are expected at the evening event and the audience will include figures from the engineering field along with friends and family.

The university would like to invite anyone who is interested to view the innovative design concepts created by the students. Anyone interested in attending the event can contact g.rai@wlv.ac.uk or call 01902 518543 for further details.
