The event was an 18 hole competition and was organised to help raise money for the Mayor of the City of Wolverhampton’s charity appeal.

This year the Mayor, Councillor Christine Mills, selected three charities for her appeal - Samaritans Wolverhampton, Compton Hospice and Help for Heroes.

The total raised at the conclusion of the event for the nominated charities stood at £1,100.

The sponsors for the event included Audi Wolverhampton, Severn Trent Water, Srixon, DMW, Robert Rock Academy and a host of other local supporters.

The annual event was once again organised by Paul Hampton from the University’s School of Technology.

Speaking about the event, he said: “The charity golf day is a wonderful opportunity to bring the University together with businesses and other partners across the region to help several worthwhile causes.

“Over the last four years I have been overwhelmed by the generosity and support for the event, and I’d like to thank all those people who have committed to being involved and all those companies which have been so generous in pledging their support.

“It is the University of Wolverhampton’s 21st birthday this year, and I believe that the golf day further honoured that anniversary by being a truly fantastic event.”
