University ready for Clearing calls

15/08/2012

Admissions experts at the University of Wolverhampton are gearing up to provide advice and answer queries about the Clearing process.

The University has 50 people on hand to take calls to its hotline, which is open from 7am to 7pm on Thursday (Aug 16).

There will also be people available to provide guidance via an online chat room, which is open between 8.30am and 5pm on A-Level results day.

The University has some places available in Clearing in subjects such as Computing and Engineering, but there are also a restricted number of additional places on further courses.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Geoff Layer, said: “The University of Wolverhampton has bucked the national trend this year and seen an increase in applications. We’re pleased that recruitment has been strong at a time of uncertainty in higher education, with high demand for the number of places we have available.

“We are entering Clearing this year for a small number of subjects and we’re ready to provide help and advice to anyone who is unsure about their next steps.

“Part-time study is also an option for students who are either unable to secure a full-time place on the course of their choice, or wish to combine their academic studies with a job. We have part-time places available across a wider range of subjects, and there is improved financial support for part-time undergraduates starting their course from this September.

“As a University, we are committed to creating real opportunities for people in this region and beyond to improve their employability and life chances. We would encourage anyone interested in finding out more about courses to contact our Clearing hotline on 0800 953 3222* or visit www.wlv.ac.uk/clearing

“We also have an Open Day on Saturday (Aug 18) at our Wolverhampton and Walsall Campuses from 10am until 3pm, and this is a great opportunity to look around our facilities and meet lecturers and admissions experts to discuss the options.”

The Clearing hotline - 0800 953 3222* - is open between 7am – 7pm on 16 August and 8am – 5pm on 17 August.

The online chat room will be open between 8.30am and 5pm on Thursday, 16 August and Friday, 17 August. It can be accessed via: www.wlv.ac.uk/clearing
