Blue-chip CEO to present annual business lecture

Terry Last will present the prestigious Crystal Lecture, a joint venture between the University of Wolverhampton Business School and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), at the Wolverhampton City Campus on Tuesday 18 October

The lecture, entitled “Running a Modern Business”, will discuss how to achieve success during periods of economic uncertainty; smarter management; and the impact of globalisation on the region.

Dr Anthea Gregory, Dean of the University of Wolverhampton Business School said: “We are delighted to be hosting the prestigious Crystal Lecture, which is now in its 18th year. This is always a popular and well attended event by members of the local business community.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Terry Last from Tarmac, who is sure to provide valuable insights into the challenges facing businesses and also ways of maintaining success in the current economic climate.”

Terry Last has worked in the industry for 43 years, starting with three years at Doncaster Mining College whilst working for Wimpey Minerals.

He has since worked for ARC (now Hanson), Aggregate Industries and Tarmac, and is now CEO of Tarmac, whose headquarters are in Ettingshall. His career has taken him to many places around the UK, including Northern Ireland, and he has also worked for periods overseas in the Caribbean Islands and in Africa.

The event will start at 6pm with registration, networking and light buffet, with the lecture due to start at 7pm.
