Students Blogging China Experiences

01/09/2009

The unique language and culture visit is now in its third year after proving successful and 11 students jetted off on August 22.

It will be held primarily in Shenzhen Polytechnic, which the University of Wolverhampton enjoys extensive and longstanding links with, and include cultural activities, the chance to stay with a Chinese family for a night and a visit to Hong Kong.

Jo Gittens, Director, International, said the trip was a great opportunity for students.

She said: "I'm delighted that the China Study Trip has become an annual event in the University calendar.

“The experience the students will get in Shenzhen and Hong Kong is so valuable and I hope it will inspire them to search for more international opportunities in the future.”

The students are logging their activities via blogs which can be seen at www.wlv.ac.uk/chinablog  so their experiences can be shared with others.

Alicia Morris, from the University’s International Office, is accompanying the students. She has already spent a year in China when she was studying for her degree.

One of last year's China Study Trip students, Robert Wolter, is travelling to Shenzhen this week and will spend a year there on an Chinese language course.
