Students sign-up for a great University experience

06/10/2009

The University and Union welcomed thousands of new arrivals earlier last month (SEP) with a host of activities and events.

The Union also held a special coffee morning for mature students for the first time, which proved very successful.

More than 1,800 new students signed up to societies – almost double the number from last year. A significantly larger number of students also signed up to sports clubs this year following the introduction of an additional 12 recreational sports.

The Union also organised nights out across the city and Walsall which were packed with students. By working in partnership with local clubs and bars, they were able to offer safer, student only, nights out.

Students’ Union President Bally Singh said: “The week went brilliantly overall. With the help of student volunteers and hard working staff, the Union pulled off a jam packed week, with events for the diverse student body across all campuses including Compton and Telford.

“We’re very pleased that so many students have signed up for our societies and clubs. It will add to their overall experience and ensure their time here is memorable and fun.”
