New link with Malaysian university

16/10/2009

Staff visited Kuching Sarawak in Borneo, Malaysia, this week to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with UCSI University.

The agreement aims to foster deeper collaboration between the two institutions, including access to more top-up degree programmes and close links between academic staff.

In particular, a top-up degree programme in International Hospitality and Tourism will be offered to UCSI students by the University of Wolverhampton.

At the signing, Jo Gittens, Director, International, said: “In line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UK and Malaysia last year, the agreement signed with UCSI University will contribute to taking forward the agendas and aspirations of both our governments.

“It will also reflect the growing importance of the internalisation of education, which is central to the University of Wolverhampton’s mission.”

The agreement builds on an existing relationship between the two institutions. UCSI students have already progressed to the University of Wolverhampton to top up their first degrees in Business, Accounting and Finance, Biotechnology, Biomedical Science, Computing and IT, Music and Engineering. Several have continued to pursue their Masters and PhDs.

UCSI University Sarawak Campus specialises in courses in hospitality, tourism, events management, retailing, industrial relations and international business. UCSI also has campuses in Kuala Lumpur and Terengganu which offer a range of courses.
