Construction careers event

30/01/2009

The School of Engineering and the Built Environment is organising the Construction Careers Day on Wednesday, 4 February 2009. The event will be held in the Exhibition Hall (MC301) in the Millennium City Building, from 11am until 3pm.

Students and recent graduates will be able to talk to employers or have a chat with a careers advisor about their CV or interview tips. The event also includes a series of presentations from leading employers in the industry.

Professor David Proverbs, Head of the Construction Infrastructure Department, said: “The construction industry is the economic barometer for the country and while we have seen a significant slow down particularly in the housing sector, there is still considerable development activity in the public sector and in infrastructure.

“Typically, the construction sector pulls the country out of recession and with further Government investment on the way, there could not be a better time to plan for a career in building, property or civil engineering.”
