Log on for results advice

18/08/2009

The web chat will go live at midnight on Thursday, 20 August 2009 as students receive their results. Staff will be on hand to answer any queries about the courses available and any concerns students may have. The online chat is open to everyone, not just University of Wolverhampton applicants.

The number of home and EU applicants that have already accepted places at the University via UCAS is up by more than 15% compared to last year, and staff are preparing to receive thousands of inquiries on a Clearing hotline from 7am on Thursday, 20 August onwards.

The University is organising a roadshow, and advisors will be in four local shopping centres on Thursday 20 August. Staff will be available in the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, the Bullring in Birmingham, Merry Hill in Brierley Hill and the Saddlers Centre, Walsall.

They will also be in the Mander Centre, Wolverhampton, on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 August.

Paul Travill, Academic Registrar at the University, said: “Depending on the A Level results, we expect to recruit around 1,000 students through Clearing. A significant number of these are as a result of the recent Government release of additional places in Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths and Business subjects.

“We also expect to be able to offer a range of opportunities in other subject areas through the Clearing process, both to those leaving school and college or more mature applicants are considering entering higher education this year as a result of the local employment situation.”

The University has filmed a series of Vodcasts, which feature former students talking about their experiences at the University. The Vodcasts can be viewed on YouTube.

The Clearing hotline number is 0800 953 3222*
