Students help to revamp school

02/05/2008
The students from the School of Engineering and the Built Environment volunteered on a community renovation at Cherry Tree School in Dudley/media/departments/digital-content-and-communications/news-and-events/Students-help-revamp-school-May-2008-1-400x216.jpg

The Year 2 Interior Architectural Design students carried out internal works including decorating the stairway and offices and preparatory work for painting. They used the renovation project to experience detailing and construction techniques.

The event was one of a number of community charity projects organised by the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club to help the local area and celebrate its first anniversary.

Richard Franklin, Research Associate in Construction IT and Simulation at the University, said: “Staff from the Architecture & Product Design (APD) team, in conjunction with the Construction Knowledge Exchange, have been active in supporting the Black Country Constructing Excellence Club since it started in April 2007. We have continued this support by volunteering for this charity event that will enhance the learning environment of the school and also gives the APD design students some hands-on experience in construction techniques.”
