Student hits the right note

28/02/2008
Shaun Tulloch, from Birmingham, is studying on the Music Industry Practice Foundation degree course. Now his work has been featured on the new Ministry of Sound compilation CD, The Sound of Bassline.

The 19-year-old’s vocals are featured on a track called ‘Best Thing’ and he produced another song, ‘Let Me Know’.

Shaun said: “It is a big achievement. I have been making music for quite a while, but I am surprised and happy to have received this recognition.

“I decided to do the Music Industry Practice course because I knew about the production side of music, but not the industry side. This seemed like the best course to learn those skills.”

Ken Banks, of Major Key Studios, runs the foundation degree at the Walsall Campus. He said: “Shaun is very bright and his compositions and production are excellent. We have been supporting him getting set up as a publishing company and introducing him to music industry professionals. His coursework complements this.”

The FD (Arts) Music Industry Practice is part of the School of Sport, Performing Arts and Leisure and the course is now in its second year. For more information, visit www.wlv.ac.uk/sspal
