Ceramics and glass artwork auction helps student fundraising bid

17/05/2017

The University of Wolverhampton will be putting unique ceramics and glass artwork up for sale at its prestigious annual auction.

The auction, which will be hosted by Will Farmer from Fieldings Auctioneers in Stourbridge and the Antiques Roadshow, will feature a variety of collectable, exclusive, high-quality glass and ceramic work by staff, students and graduates as well as established makers from across the UK.  The event will be held at the Arena Theatre, Wulfruna Street in Wolverhampton on Tuesday 30th May 2017 from 5.00 pm.

Paul McAllister, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader in Applied Arts at the Wolverhampton School of Art, said:  “The annual auction is a fundraising event which ultimately enables students to take part in the New Designers Exhibition at the Business Design Centre in London allowing them to showcase their work to a wider audience.

“The auction will be a really fun and free event complete with cava and samosas. Not only will people be supporting students on their professional launch, there will be a chance to bid for some beautiful, bespoke art works in both glass and ceramics which one day may well be worth more than the price paid on the night!”

Faculty of Arts students involved in the auction are studying for Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Arts graduate and postgraduate degree courses in the School of Creative Arts and Design.
