Advertising deal struck with local football club

11/05/2017

The University of Wolverhampton’s Hereford Business Solutions Centre has struck an advertising deal with Hereford Football Club.

The award winning Business Solutions Centre, based at Skylon Park, offers local businesses based in the Marches (Hereford, Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin) a wide range of support services and activities to help them achieve sustainable growth.

Hereford FC is the ‘phoenix’ football club that was formed following the demise of Hereford United after the original club was wound up in December 2014.  The club plays in the Southern League Premier League having won two promotions since their formation. The club prides itself on being a community based club with an average support of nearly 3000 per game and having over half of that as season ticket holders.

The University, which has had a presence in Hereford for nearly two years, is promoting the Business Solutions Centre on new advertising hoardings in the Blackfriars End, as well as sponsoring selected matches. The advertising deal has been secured for a year.

Chris Williams, Vice-Chair at Hereford FC, said: “Hereford FC is more than just a football club.  We actively work with the local community and we’re a family based club that integrates well with local businesses in the area.  We were really pleased that the Business Solutions Centre chose to advertise its services at our venue and we hope it’s the start of a mutually beneficial partnership with them.”

Professor Ian Oakes, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We are keen to help support businesses in the local communities that we serve.  Hereford FC is an amazing example of how a business model can be applied successfully to turn fortunes around which is why it makes perfect sense for us to support them by using their refurbished club to advertise our own business services in the area.”

Hereford Business Solutions Centre has an enterprise hub with hot-desking facilities, incubation space and breakout areas. Dedicated space can also be hired out for meetings and events, including a contemporary boardroom and a flexible, large seminar room.  Both rooms are equipped with cutting-edge technology allowing for video conferencing, and there is also digital signage which can be tailored to create a professional feel to any event.
