Top award for nursing student

26/06/2017

An inspirational University of Wolverhampton nursing student has been honoured for her passion and commitment to nursing in her community at a prestigious awards ceremony.

Sabrina Ffrench was presented with The Community Award, sponsored by The National Garden Scheme, at the Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards.

Sabrina was recognised for her enthusiasm, dedication and hard work in her studies, beating 23 other contenders for the award. She wins a £1,500 prize fund to put towards a travel placement of her choice, enabling her to further develop her skills as a nurse.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust helps nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants suffering financial or personal hardship, often because of illness, domestic abuse, disability, working poverty and older age.

Sabrina, from West Bromwich, is studying Adult Nursing. She said: “I’m surprised and delighted to receive this award from Cavell Nurses’ Trust, it came as such a surprise! I’m so excited to start planning my placement.”

The ceremony took place in front of a packed audience of nurses, midwives and healthcare leaders at the De Vere Grand Connaught Rooms in Central London on 22 June.

Cavell Nurses’ Trust Chairman Simon Knighton said: “The Cavell Nurses’ Trust Awards helps us be here for nurses and midwives, either by supporting them when they face hardship or by celebrating the amazing work that they do every day.

“We’d like to thank the generous organisations that sponsored our awards and lent their time and expertise to ensure the awards are a fitting tribute to the passion and commitment of all our finalists.”

The Cavell Nurses’ Trust awards are made possible by a number of sponsors that give their time and support to the scheme: NEXT PLC, The Belgian Embassy in the UK, NHS Professionals, NHS Improvement, Alexandra, National Garden Scheme, RCN Foundation, Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps (QARANC), The UK Nursing and Midwifery Social Media Leaders, Mark Allen Group and International Medical Corps UK.
