County cricket board sponsorship deal struck in Staffordshire

02/08/2017

The University of Wolverhampton has struck a partnership deal with Staffordshire Cricket which will see them sponsoring the board until the end of the 2019 season.

The sponsorship agreement will see the two organisations collaborate to provide development opportunities for the University’s growing student base as well as use of its facilities to support the development of the game.

The University of Wolverhampton logo will appear on the shirt-fronts of the four senior county age group squads of the boys’ and girls’ teams (under 15s and under 17s) as well as across a range of Staffordshire Cricket marketing collateral.

Katharine Clough, Director of External Relations at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We’re looking forward to working with Staffordshire Cricket to grow the game.  80% of our student population live within a 25-mile radius of our City Campus and we’ve identified a range of opportunities for our degree students to gain valuable experience supporting a local governing body of sport and particularly cricket. Staffordshire Cricket, whilst having a county-wide focus, has identified Wolverhampton as a strategic priority to grow participation in the game and we’re delighted to be supporting them.”

Staffordshire Cricket’s Development Director, Jason Britton, said: “The partnership with the University comes at a great time for us. We’re already in discussions with City of Wolverhampton Council about planned capital investment into increasing the informal play opportunities in the city and the option to transfer playing facility assets to support the local club network. Our local Chance to Shine Street Cricket work and ECB City Cup team from the city has shown a real passion for the game outside of the already strong traditional cricket club network and so we’re very excited about the partnership and its potential impact on cricket in Staffordshire.”
