Graduate fashion show showcases student creations

the degree fashion showStudents saw their creations come to life on the catwalk as part of the University of Wolverhampton’s Graduate Fashion Show. ‌

The show, held at The Grand Station, showcased the designs of final year BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles students.

Ranging from sportswear and plus-size outfit to conceptual and commercial designs, the outfits were displayed by a selection of student models in the show, which was produced by the Arena Theatre.

First year students also saw their designs based on the theme of sustainability displayed along with a final year brief with a monochrome theme for a Clothes Show Live Brief.‌


‌Sharon Watts, Course Leader in Fashion and Textiles at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “The show was a great success. The presentation of the garments and the modernity and attention to detail was quite remarkable. 

“It was the culmination and showcase of three years’ worth of hard work.  Everything from the venue and the production all came together and really helped the

‌‌“It was a real eclectic mix from the exploration of our first year’s work to the refinement of the work of our final year students with its focus. There was a great diversity on display in the collection. Some very androgynous looks, there was sophistication; there were designs that were fun and sexy and thought provoking. The collections managed to be commercial and avant-garde.magic happen.

“We’ve had a lot of interest in the collection since we’ve launched the Degree Show with people interested in buying garments and potentially developing lines for fashion stores.”

‌The show was part of a range of exhibitions, collections and activities being staged as parts of Artsfest, a festival celebrating the creative and cultural life of the region.
