International acclaim for University researcher

A University of Wolverhampton academic has won international commendation for his research into family businesses.  Dr Yong Wang, from the Management Research Centre, won the ‘Best Paper on Conference Theme’ at the 2015 International Family Enterprise Research Academy Conference in Hamburg.

Dr Yong Wang, from the Management Research Centre, won the ‘Best Paper on Conference Theme’ at the 2015 International Family Enterprise Research Academy (IFERA) Conference in Hamburg, Germany.

IFERA is a prestigious, world-leading family business research association and is dedicated to advancing family business research and translating research findings and theories into practical actions.

The award was presented in recognition of the 2015 conference theme, which focused on 'Tradition and Innovation in Family Business'. Dr Wang's paper was ‘Familiness and Innovation: The Effect of Resource Leveraging’.

He said: "I am honoured and delighted that my paper won the award in Hamburg. The IFERA conference is a venue for leading family business researchers to exchange and share their research initiatives. I feel proud that I can compete and excel at this level.”

Dr Wang has been researching this area for 15 years and has also won 'Best Research Proposal' in 2011 and 'Best Paper Reviewer' in 2009 at IFERA.

He worked in a family business in China before gaining a scholarship from the government to then went on to study at Manchester Business School. He has also completed a PhD which focused on family business succession.
