University hosts Rail Supply Chain event

23/09/2014

Companies will receive information on how they can take advantage of opportunities resulting from the investment in the existing infrastructure and future high speed rail projects.

The University’s Business Solutions Centre will host an event with the Rail Alliance at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park on Wednesday 7 May from 9.30am to 4pm.

The event will demonstrate individual company’s involvement and how it can capitalise on supply chain opportunities in the rail industry.

Gary Dimmock, Manager of Wolverhampton Business Solutions Centre said, “These are exciting times for the Rail Sector with high levels of investment in the current infrastructure and rolling stock coupled with the investment in HS2.

“This high profile event featuring key industry organisations provides West Midlands businesses with a rare opportunity to find out how they can benefit and also provides practical advice on how they can grow their business in this sector.”

Network Rail has indicated a capital expenditure of £24.9 billion between 2014 and 2019 in addition to the planned high-speed rail system (HS2).

HS2 will see Britain adopt the worldwide standard and finally see the major cities of the Midlands and the North connected to the extensive, Europe-wide high speed network.

The event is targeted at companies already active in the rail industry as well as those from other sectors wanting to diversify.

Suppliers will have the opportunity to hear directly from leading exponents in the rail industry, as well as companies from the wider infrastructure supply market.

Companies such as Major players Alstom, Unipart Rail and Compete For will be providing individual ‘meet the buyer’ appointments.
