26/06/2014

Adam Checkley at top of the world‘Top of the World’ banqueting suite, owned by Utopia’s Clubs, has appointed Adam Checkley as its first Events and Conference Manager.

The 21 year old obtained the position after recently completing a degree in Tourism Management at the University of Wolverhampton.

Adam will be spearheading the Stafford venue’s move into a wider range of activities including corporate hospitality, small conferences, business meetings as well as further development of prestige events, dining and banqueting businesses.

Adam said: “I have been given a fantastic opportunity at Top of The World Banqueting Suite; an opportunity which without the university of Wolverhampton I wouldn’t have been able to access.

“I’m really looking forward to continuing in this project with both the University and Top of the World”

This new role originated from the University of Wolverhampton’s Knowledge Enterprise and Exchange Network (KEEN) programme that facilitates the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the business and academic worlds.

Popular from its launch in 2012, there have been over 70 collaborations to date with graduate project managers making an impact from day one.

Peter Robinson, Head of Department for Marketing, Innovation, Leisure and Enterprise at the University said: “The role of KEEN is to enable a two way of flow of experience and knowledge so we will be using the work done by Adam and the rest of the Utopia team as a learning opportunity for the undergraduates on our leisure management programmes.”

Graham Pinches, Utopia’s owner and managing director said:  “We are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with both the university and Adam and we see the KEEN programme as an exciting way of gaining knowledge ourselves and providing us with support to grow our business here in Stafford.”

Adam is set to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Tourism Management in September 2014.
