University Director appointed Chamber President

‌‌‌Nigel Babb, Commercial Director of the University of Wolverhampton Science Park, has taken up the post after two years as Vice President and follows-on from Mike Priddy.

Nigel is a strong believer in the benefits of developing stronger industry and academia links to help increase the skills base and innovation levels of firms in the West Midlands, particularly the Black Country and Marches areas where the University has a number of campuses.

Nigel Babb - Wolverhampton President of the Black Country Chamber of Commerce‌Nigel has been an active member of the Chamber Board for over six years and is looking forward to the challenges of his new role.

"The Chamber does some excellent work supporting businesses in the region at a local, national and international level. I am delighted to be taking a leading position within the organisation and seeing the economy of Wolverhampton improve following on from well-known recent investments in the City area. No one else is going to make the improvements for us, it’s up to the Chamber and its members to drive forward a better business environment for all." he said.

Nigel was previously Director of Strategic Developments at the University and is also a Director and Vice-Chairman of the UK IT Association.

His historical involvement with working with businesses for economic impact has also been reflected in the leading role he took in the development of the University’s successful e-Innovation Centre, a business incubator for newly formed firms based at the Telford Innovation Campus and the recent opening of the Business and Technology Centre on the same campus.
