Spring Graduation 2014

Three graduation ceremonies will be held for over 830 School of Health and Wellbeing and Postgraduate students on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 April 2014.

Honorary degrees and professorships will also be presented at the ceremonies, which will take place at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

On Wednesday 16 April, Postgraduate awards will take place, including an honorary degree awarded to Hilary Devey CBE.

Hilary has become a familiar face on British TV, known for her pivotal roles in reality shows including; Dragon's Den, The Intern, The Secret Millionaire and The Business Inspector.

Hilary will receive an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Business Administration.

On 17 April, David Downton will also be awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts, during the University of Wolverhampton’s of Health and Wellbeing students’ graduation ceremony.

David studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in Illustration and Graphics at the University of Wolverhampton in 1981.

Since then, he has established himself as a fashion illustrator, with a client list including; Tiffany & Co, Bloomingdales, Harrods, Top Shop, Chanel and Dior.

He has produced some talented drawings some of the world’s most beautiful women, like Erin O’Connor, Catherine Deneuve, Linda Evangelista and Dita Von Teese.

Each ceremony will start with a procession of staff both academic and senior, governors, honorary award recipients and invited guests through the city of Wolverhampton.

After each ceremony, students and their families have been invited to attend a drinks reception in the Harrison Learning Centre, the University’s main library, to celebrate the success of their graduates and toast the beginning of their future careers.

Professor Geoff Layer, the University’s Vice-Chancellor, said:

“Graduation is a great opportunity to celebrate the success of our students, as they move onto the next stage of their careers or further study.”

“We are always delighted to be awarding honorary degrees to leading figures who have made a significant contribution to their fields. Their expertise, knowledge and experience provide fascinating insights for our students.
