Graduate artists exhibit their work

01/10/2013

Artists graduating from the University of Wolverhampton will display their work in a special exhibition.

The University has organised The MA Public View to showcase some of the best projects and pieces created by over 60 graduating Masters’ students.

The show will take place at The Public art gallery, in New Street, West Bromwich, from Art work by Graduate Ruth JoplinSunday, October 13 to Sunday, October 20.

It will be open from 10am to 4.30pm Monday to Saturday, and 11am to 3pm Sunday.

It will be the last time the exhibition will be held at The Public gallery, which is set to close in November, after Sandwell Council announced it could no longer afford to fund the £72 million venue.

This exhibition is the culmination of the work undertaken by the School of Art & Design Master's students over the last year or two and shows the diversity of creative thinking, skills and professional approach to practice that they have achieved in that time.

Both full-time and part-time students have come from a variety of backgrounds and experiences to contribute to the debates and extend their individual practices, with a good proportion of international students to offer enriched cultural understandings of art and design.

The free exhibition will feature displays of different kinds of artwork, including ceramics, glass, photography and sculpture.

Professor Dew Harrison, Associate Dean for Research and Postgraduate Study at the University of Wolverhampton, said: “We are delighted to be able to exhibit the excellent work of our Masters students in art and design at the wonderful The Public building.

"Sadly this will be our last show here so it’s particularly fitting that we have a spectacular, visually exciting and thought provoking array of artwork to present for 2013.”
